SCOPE

The concept of size-dependent material properties becomes dominant in the materials science community. Understanding the size-dependent properties of materials is the most challenging issue in the advanced materials science. To a great extent this is a result of the technological requirements concerning the development of materials with controlled properties, as well as of the recent progress in materials science, nanotechnology and computational chemistry.

The SizeMat conference becomes an international forum for discussion of the most recent developments in the size-dependent effects in materials for environmental protection and energy applications. The conference series of meetings started by Prof. K. Hadjiivanov and Prof. Stoyanova with the first conference, held in Varna in 2006. Next two conferences SizeMat2 (2010, Nessebar) and SizeMat3 (2021, Pomorie) contribute to strengthen the role of Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry as a leading scientific organization.

The thematic area of the conferences comprises materials forming the basis of modern technologies, particularly with regard to clean energy production and environmental protection. Three classes of advanced inorganic materials will be covered: catalysts/sorbents for environmental protection, materials for clean energy storage and glasses and ceramics for better life.

The SizeMat4 conference will provide a forum where European scientists can meet together to present and discuss all of the latest developments in the scientific study of advanced inorganic materials.
